I am running for County Court Judge because I believe our community deserves a judge who truly listens, treats every person with dignity, and applies the law with fairness and compassion. My career has been devoted to serving our neighbors during their most challenging times, and I am prepared to bring my experience, integrity, and heart to the People’s Court.

I have worked alongside victims seeking accountability, defendants entitled to due process, and families whose lives can change in an instant. These experiences have shown me that a judge’s role extends beyond legal expertise; it requires an awareness of the profound, real-life impact each decision may carry.

I understand the culture of the courtroom and am committed to moving cases efficiently. I have the ability to weigh facts objectively while also considering the human realities behind every matter. I believe in the necessity of ensuring everyone is heard and treated with dignity.

County Court is often referred to as the People’s Court, and for many, it marks their first encounter with the criminal justice system. I am running to serve our community with integrity and compassion, to ensure every individual’s voice is heard, and to uphold justice in a way that strengthens public confidence in our courts and honors the community we serve.

It is my hope and desire to earn the vote of my community this upcoming election and serve as your next Broward County Court Judge.

Veronica Walker’s commitment to public service is rooted in the example set by her family.

Her mother, a retired school teacher of 30 years, continues to support public schools in Miami-Dade County, and her father served both the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office in Nashville and the U.S. Coast Guard. Public service also runs deep through her grandparents: her paternal grandfather served as an elected Nashville Councilman for 16 years and owned a neighborhood barbershop for nearly 60 years. Listening in that barbershop as community concerns were raised—and resolved—helped shape Veronica’s belief that lasting solutions begin by showing up for people. Her maternal grandfather, a construction company owner who worked directly with the community, reinforced that same lesson: contribute, lead, and build.

A proud longtime Broward County resident, Veronica has called Miramar home since 1993. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in English from Tennessee State University, followed by a Master’s degree in Public Administration and a Certificate in Nonprofit Management. She went on to earn her law degree from Barry University, combining a strong foundation in communication and public administration with legal training focused on service and accountability.

Public service also runs deep through her grandparents: her paternal grandfather served as an elected Nashville Councilman for 16 years and owned a neighborhood barbershop for nearly 60 years.

In April 2017, Veronica joined the Broward State Attorney’s Office, where she has built a career grounded in courtroom experience and principled judgment. For nearly a decade, she has prosecuted a wide range of matters—including misdemeanors, felonies, hate crimes, public corruption, and identity theft—and has tried numerous cases to verdict, including serious and complex prosecutions such as homicide and home invasion. She currently serves as the lead prosecutor for the Hate Crimes Unit and also handles public corruption cases, bringing a deep respect for the rule of law and the constitutional rights of every person who enters the justice system.

Beyond the courtroom, Veronica is a recognized leader and educator on issues impacting public trust and community safety. She serves as Chair of the Broward County Hate Crimes Task Force and is appointed to the Broward Sheriff’s Office Social Justice Task Force. She also provides countywide training on hate crimes and has organized town halls and community events to strengthen understanding, reporting, and access to justice. Veronica is a member of the Broward Bar Association, the Bernice G. Dorn Black Women Lawyer Association, the T.J. Reddick Bar Association, the Virgil Hawkins Bar Association, and the National Bar Association—and she brings to her campaign a commitment to fairness, dignity, and an accessible court system worthy of the public’s trust.
